Little Rainbow Trail Loop - Fun Run - January 15th, 2011

Saturday, January 15th, the Chaffee County Running Club organized its first fun run of the year. The course consisted of an approximate 7.5 mile loop. The first 5 miles were run on the new Little Rainbow Trail. At the end of the trail, we circled back to the start on the Power Line Road. The weather was perfect, in the upper 40’s with a slight overcast sky. Twenty six people showed up to run, 16 CCRC members and 10 guests. Tom Sobal came in first overall and Kristy Falcon was close behind him as first woman. The run was followed by snacks, prizes, and a newspaper photo.

We hope to continue to do a series of fun runs this year. Besides being fun and no cost to enter, they offer the opportunity for some competition. We’ll try to keep them at a distance and technical level that, while being somewhat challenging, everyone will be able to participate.
